The Media Has an Important Role in Strengthening and Supporting the Recognition, Justice, and Respect for the Rights of Indigenous Peoples through the Passage of the Indigenous Peoples Bill
The media plays an important role in advocating for the ratification of the Indigenous Peoples Bill. Therefore, Kaoem Telapak with the Coalition to Guard the Indigenous Peoples Bill held a discussion with the mass media on Monday, 24 March 2025, at Komnas Perempuan, Jakarta. The event discussed the importance of the media in raising public awareness and encouraging the government and DPR to pass regulations that protect the rights of Indigenous Peoples.
Until now, Indigenous Peoples have faced various problems, including discrimination and human rights violations. The Indigenous Peoples Bill aims to protect land rights, culture, natural resources, and the existence of Indigenous Peoples communities in Indonesia. The Coalition and Kaoem Telapak will continue to dialogue with the government and Parliament to ensure protection for Indigenous Peoples is realised.
