Letter from the Indonesian Civil Society in Response to the Outcome of Indonesia-European Union CEPA Negotiations Held in Bali 6-10 February 2023

The Indonesian Civil Society Coalition for Economic Justice, or the MKE Coalition, conveys its pressure regarding negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Indonesia and the European Union or I-EU CEPA.
The Government targeted the I-EU CEPA negotiations to finish at the end of 2023. So, they organized the 13th negotiation round on 6-10 February 2023 in Bali, Indonesia.

For this reason, the MKE Coalition urges the Indonesian Government and the European Union Commission not to continue negotiations and completion of the I-EU CEPA before there are guarantees for the democratic rights of the people in the decision-making process on policies that have a broad impact on the lives of all Indonesian people and guarantee the protection of Human Rights; the Right to Social Justice, and the Right to a Sustainable Environment, as well as the consequences that will arise from the implementation of IEU CEPA in Indonesia.
