Tanjung Puting National Park is known as the only preserving area for the Orangutan habitat in Central Kalimantan.

Ten percent of the tropical forest in the world is located in Indonesia, and become a vital area home to unique biodiversity. Despite this fact, the systematic deforestation for the sake of profit in short term, hence accelerates the environmental destruction in Indonesia where the social aspect is the affected the most.

The illegal logging, the bad governance in concession, the changing of the forest to a plantation, and the forest fire almost every year have made the tropical forest even smaller and pushed the unique species such as orangutan and Sumtran Tiger to the edge of extinction. Forest-dependent communities are rapidly losing their access to natural resources in an unexpected way.
