Christian ‘Bob’ Purba is member of Kaoem Telapak who is based in Bogor, West Java. He ist an activist that has been active in social and environmental movements for more than 23 years.

He has served as Chairman of the Executive Board and Executive Director of Forest Watch Indonesia (FWI), Vice President of TELAPAK, and National Dynamics of the Independent Forest Monitoring Network (JPIK). Currently, Bob plays a role in the Independent Forest Monitoring Fund (IFM Fund), which supports independent forest monitoring through investigation, consolidation, and capacity building.

He emphasises the important role of independent monitors in maintaining the credibility of forest policies and advocating for sustainable funding regulations. Bob also highlighted the challenges in integrating the role of monitors into the SVLK system and encouraged the government’s concrete steps in preventing deforestation. With a strong commitment to forest sustainability and community welfare, Bob endeavours to promote better forestry governance in Indonesia.
