Chandra Kirana Prijosusilo, affectionately known as Chandra, is a member of Kaoem Telapak in the Special Region of Yogyakarta who has been active in the field of sustainable development since 1989. During the early years of Kaoem Telapak—formerly known as Telapak—she played a vital role in organizational capacity building for its personnel.
Through Sekar Kawung, Chandra is dedicated to biodiversity conservation within the textile sector. Sekar Kawung collaborates with local farmers and textile artisans in Tuban, East Java, with the primary objective of preserving local cotton and natural dyes while boosting sustainable textile production.
She is committed to safeguarding local knowledge and traditional practices, which are increasingly seldom documented. Furthermore, she strives to reduce the carbon footprint of the garment industry by promoting the cultivation of local cotton and reducing reliance on imports.
