Muhamad Kosar, also known as Kosar, is a member of Kaoem Telapak from Sukabumi, West Java, who actively accompanies communities living around forest areas. Kosar has a long track record of driving independent forestry monitoring in Indonesia, including his dedication as the National Dinamisator for the Independent Forestry Monitoring Network (Jaringan Pemantau Independen Kehutanan—JPIK) to safeguard forest governance.

Currently, Kosar focuses on empowering farmers through the Action for Conservation with the People Foundation (Yayasan Aksara). This foundation collaborates closely with various Forest Farmer Groups (KTH) in the Mount Halimun Salak National Park (Taman Nasional Gunung Halimun Salak—TNGHS) area. Its primary goal is to facilitate conservation partnership schemes, ensuring that communities obtain legal certainty and legitimate land management rights.

Kosar is committed to harmoniously integrating social, economic, and ecological interests for grassroots communities. In addition to working to resolve tenurial conflicts, he continuously encourages ecosystem restoration by planting tens of thousands of trees and implementing sustainable agroforestry schemes in the region.
