Rina Agustine, also known as Rina, is a member of Kaoem Telapak from Bogor, Jawa Barat. Her entrepreneurial spirit began to take shape when she was mandated by the organization to run Telapak’s business unit, then named PT Poros Nusantara Utama (PNU) from 2007 to 2009. During that time, Rina helped facilitate the Tapos Village community’s business in producing and marketing pineapple jam. She also assisted the Ciwaluh Village community in producing cat’s whiskers leaves as raw herbal ingredients. Additionally, Rina played a role in supporting the development of Kedai Telapak, Telapak’s business unit at that time.

Since 2015, Rina has worked at the Aliansi Masyarakat Adat Nusantara (AMAN). Going on from 2016, she has been entrusted with managing an AMAN business entity called Gerai Nusantara (GENUS), which consists of three business units: a Cafe, a Craft section, and a Roastery. GENUS underwent a rebranding in late 2023, with the Cafe now serving as its primary entry point, displayed in a contemporary boutique cafe concept. GENUS Boutique & Coffee also showcases a collection of products from Indigenous communities, which simultaneously acts as a storytelling medium about the Indigenous Peoples’ Movement in Indonesia.

The inspiration we can draw from Rina lies in her creativity in introducing the Indigenous Peoples’ movement to the public—especially urban communities—through the warmth of coffee, alongside the beauty and philosophy of Indigenous craft products. This boutique coffee concept doubles as a learning space to explore the ancestral customs and cultural diversity that Indigenous communities have passed down through generations.
