Press Release: Joint Statement by Environment-Based Civil Society Organizations Regarding Criminal Law Procedures Code Bill (RUU KUHAP)
The Revision of Criminal Law Procedure Code (RKUHAP) that should’ve been intended to protect the environment and ecology activists is instead bringing the potential to strengthen impunity, weaken the rights of the suspects & defendants who are frequently the environment defenders, and show the ‘meaningful manipulation’ practice which is a form of manipulating the meaning of public participation and rights protection procedurally without substance.
Alongside the environmant-based Civil Society Coalition, Kaoem Telapak published this press release to object to the substance of RKUHAP and propose at least four demands by considering a number of important points during the drafting of RKUHAP, in order to make it a crucial step in fixing the root of the problems in criminal procedural law.
