Zainur Rohman is a social activist based in East Java. With expertise in advocacy, campaigning, research, and community development, he has experience working in various organisations, including JPIK, Kaoem Telapak, PPLH Mangkubumi, and the Tulungagung Health Office as an HIV-AIDS case manager. Since 2016, Zainur has been active as a member of Kaoem Telapak.

He is known to be critical of co-firing policies in PLTUs that mix coal with biomass. Zainur highlights the importance of ensuring biomass, such as sawdust, is obtained legally and sustainably. While the policy aims to reduce carbon emissions, it faces technical and supply challenges.

The Trend Asia report even criticised the co-firing policy as a ‘false energy transition’ that could potentially increase greenhouse gas emissions. Zainur emphasised the need for the government to implement the Timber Legality and Verification System (SVLK) in this policy.
