Gilung, born in Durian Cacar on 10 January 1981, is the Chairperson of the Indigenous Peoples Alliance of the Archipelago (AMAN) Indragiri Hulu, Riau. With expertise in community development, he actively defends the rights of the Talang Mamak indigenous people who face conflicts with oil palm companies such as PT Runggu Prima Jaya. Since joining Kaoem Telapak in 2016, Gilung has focused on issues such as environmental violations and corruption related to oil palm plantation licences.

He also highlights the adverse impacts of oil palm monoculture on biodiversity and the health of indigenous peoples. Gilung was instrumental in the development of participatory maps to determine the boundaries of indigenous territories. In addition, she defends the rights of indigenous women such as Sona binti Kulupmat who have been caught up in legal cases due to traditional farming practices. Gilung hopes that the law will take firm action against perpetrators of corruption and restore the rights of Indigenous Peoples.
